Patrick J. Huppert, 60

Patrick J. Huppert, age 60, passed away on July 17, while on an annual fishing trip in Canada.

Born in River Falls, Wis., Pat was the youngest son, of Walter and Peg Huppert. He was raised on the family farm and worked at Enstad's Dairy Bar, Equity, and GTC before graduating from River Falls High School. He attended Minneapolis School of Drafting before beginning a career as a draftsman at Volrath in 1976, designing walk-in coolers. He also worked at Widman Manufacturing, another walk-in manufacturer. For the past 34 years, he was an Application Engineer for walk-in freezers at Norlake Incorporated and was looking forward to his coming retirement. Pat was a dedicated employee, respected and revered by co-workers and contacts alike.

His family was his number one priority. Always a people pleaser, saying "No" was his greatest weakness. He was a skilled carpenter, ever eager to work on one of Debbie's projects and pass on his knowledge to his sons. He was a dedicated father. As a seasoned musician, he enjoyed giving Brandy and his friends advice about their band. He loved coaching soccer and was his kids' biggest fan at their sporting events. He was awarded the title "Mr. Hockey" during Travis's hockey years.

His favorite pastimes were being a grandpa to his new grandbaby and grandsons, being a huge Packers fan and losing his mind over games, family vacations, spending every day with the love of his life, Debbie, teasing and being a jokester, and singing and drumming in a country band for 12 years. He counted down the days to his annual fishing adventure to Graham Rd with his fishing buddies, son, Travis, and son-in-law, Jeremy, where he spent his final days.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents; and stepson, Brandon.

He is survived by the love of his life, Debbie, whom he married in 1980; son, Travis(Emylee) Huppert of Largo, Fla., daughter Maggie (Jeremy) Atteberry; granddaughter Rylie Brandy; and step grandsons, Karsen, Kaiden and Kamren Atteberry of Chaska, Minn.; brothers, Mick (Louise) Huppert of Petersham, Mass., and Tim (Linda) Huppert of Roberts, Minn.; mother-in-law, Romaine (Don) Schone; sisters-in-law, Sandra McTie, Kathy (Tim) Most; and his dear nieces, nephews and many special friends.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, at Ezekiel Lutheran Church, River Falls, with Rev. Mark Hall officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, July 25, at Ezekiel Lutheran Church and again on Saturday one hour before the service. A private burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Ezekiel Lutheran Church/Luther Point Bible Camp Scholarship or to River Falls Youth Hockey.
