Paul A. Lund of DeBary, Fla. (formerly of Ellsworth, Wis.), 77, passed away on Thursday, June 26, after a long illness.
Paul is survived by his wife of 50 years, Delores, and their children, Paul W. Lund (Beth) of Maplewood, Minn., Tammy Hojat (Shervin) of Austin, Texas, Mark Lund (Diane) of Eau Claire, Wis., and Adele Lund of Woodbury, Minn.; five grandsons, one granddaughter and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Jack Lund of St. Paul, and one sister, Nancy Lund of Arden Hills, Minn.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Adele Lund, and one brother, William Lund of St. Paul.
Paul served in the Army Signal Corps as a cryptographer during the Korean conflict. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 204, Ellsworth, Wis., an organization which he was very proud to serve in many capacities. He was also a member of the 40/8, an honorary Legionnaire's Group.
He served as a Boy Scout leader and also on the board of directors of his church, St. Paul's United Church of Christ, in Ellsworth. Once he retired from the Ralston Purina Company and sold his business, Lund's Tax Service, he moved with Delores to DeBary, Fla., where many new friends were made. Paul will be remembered most by his humorous nature, genuine personality and his desire to help others.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 26, at 11 a.m. at Hill Funeral Home in Ellsworth. A lunch will be served afterwards at the Ellsworth Legion Hall.
A private interment will be held at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the Hospice of Volusia County in Orange City, Fla., or St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Ellsworth, Wis.
