Pets are welcome at Petapalooza Sept. 15
The third annual St. Croix Petapalooza will be held noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 15 at Hoffman Park in River Falls.
This event is a joint effort of five western Wisconsin organizations. The organizations are: PAWS of Western WI, Helping Hands for Pets, CatTown Rescue, St. Croix Animal Friends and Cocker Spaniel Resources.
Community pet lovers and their pets will have the opportunity to support these local organizations by making donations to participate in activities with or without their pets, listen to a live band, enjoy food and talk with other pet enthusiasts.
"Each year, approximately 8 million dogs and cats nationwide are euthanized because they don’t have a home,” said Shar Patnoe, president of PAWS. “The money raised each year by our St Croix Petapalooza events provides our organizations with funds to help our St. Croix Valley area struggling neighbors keep their dogs and cats in their homes rather than be surrendered or euthanized due to financial limitations.”
These five organizations provide services to St. Croix Valley communities including:
--Spay/neuter assistance to provide reduced fees for the altering of family pets.
--Pet food assistance for families struggling to feed their furry friends.
--Assistance for medical care to help keep a pet at home rather than surrender or euthanize it.
--Foster home programs to provide temporary, safe and loving environments for homeless and unwanted pets.
--Adoption programs where unwanted pets find permanent homes after receiving medical care, spay/neuter and vaccinations.
--Pet-finding network to find and report lost pets in St. Croix Valley communities.
--Future plans to build a Humane Society facility on already purchased land in St Croix County.
