Phipps offers summer theater camps
Theater camps for youths in grades 3-10 will be offered by area professionals this summer at The Phipps Center for the Arts. Each class will perform for family and friends on the final day of class.
Drama Camp (grades 3 and 4) runs Monday-Friday, June 15-19, and again, July 20-24, from 9 a.m. to noon each day, for a fee of $135. Enrollment is limited to 20 students. Students will explore acting, creating characters, improvisation and performance techniques.
Acting Ensemble (grades 5 and 6) is Monday-Friday, June 15-19, and again, July 20-24, from 1 to 4 p.m. each day, for a fee of $135. Enrollment is limited to 20 students. Students will work on acting techniques, improvisation, character development and performance techniques. The instructors are Diane Landis and Cynthia Hechter.
Musical Theater Camp (grades 7-10) runs Monday-Friday, July 13-17, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The camp is an intensive week of training in all aspects of musical theater for students with all levels of experience. The program offers classes in acting, vocal technique, dance and movement, as well as auditioning. Cost is $265. Enrollment is limited. Students should bring a bag lunch.
