Police training set at Hudson High School
River Falls Wisconsin 2815 Prairie Drive / P.O. Box 25 54022

If you see a lot of police officers and cars at Hudson High School next Thursday, don't be alarmed. It's only a drill.

According to HPD Sgt. Marty Jensen, the department will stage what they call an "active shooter training" on Aug. 25 at HHS from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The "simunition" will focus on how to find and remove an active shooter from the building. The shooter will be armed and firing with blanks. The officers will also be armed and will return fire when necessary using paintball cartridges attached to their weapons.

Officers have already received preliminary training through WITC. The exercise is an opportunity to put the training into action. Jensen said the training will be applicable to any building, not just schools.

"We certainly hope that we never have a real situation where we need to do this, but we have to be prepared in case we do."

Anyone with questions about the training can call the police department at (715) 386-4771.
