Pop art theme of Willow River show April 19
The ninth annual Willow River Music and Art Show will be held Friday, April 19, from 5-9 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Willow River Parent Group and features art for sale by area artists along with a display of student artwork.
The event's theme this year is Pop Art, a movement that emerged in the mid-1950s in Britain and in the late '50s in the United States. Willow River art instructor Jodi Youngman has been teaching the students about the artists who defined that movement. The children have been creating works that will be included in the art show.
The event also includes entertainment. The music teacher Lindsey Jentzsch has been recruiting students to perform throughout the evening.
The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments and hors d'oeures will be served.
Area artists who wish to participate in the show and sale can contact Genie Castro at (715)338-6766 or email Genie Castrow for information and a submission form.
