Prairie Restorations, an environmental landscape vendor, conducted a controlled burn on July 10 by the main Hudson Hospital & Clinics signage east of the hospital campus. Prairie Restorations is working to restore the scenic prairie plants, including planting trees and prairie plants to complement the hillside landscaping. The purpose of the controlled burn is to provide restoration and management of native plant communities. Conditions were ideal and the burn went as planned. Safety precautions included: the correct amount of moisture, monitoring wind direction, fire department notified and approval from the city of Hudson. Hospital maintenance staff continually monitored conditions throughout the burn to ensure safety. This is part of a two-year project, with another controlled burn planned next year, resulting in full restoration of prairie plants on the hillside landscaping of the hospital campus
