Prepare natural play space for River Crest
Parents and teachers from River Crest Elementary worked together to prepare a site for a natural play space and outdoor classroom Saturday, Nov. 2. One of the goals of this project is to give students a place to play and explore in the midst of nature rather than being beside it. The volunteers cleared invasive species such as buckthorn and Siberian elm. Some of the volunteers included, from left, Tia Ronningen, Ethan Ronningen, first-grade teacher Caitlin Barnier, second-grade teacher Meg Gornick, Principal Katie Coppenbarger, Mitchell Wolf, kindergarten teacher Caroline Wolf, Michael Baumann and Andy Watson. Not pictured, fifth-grade teacher John Mueller.
