There will also be “community conversations” on Thursday, Jan. 9 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and on Jan. 21 from 6:30-8:30 p.m., both at Hudson High School’s media center. Those attending will work in small rotating groups to respond to questions from the Board of Education and share their opinions on the options being considered. Those attending can ask questions, raise concerns and offer possible solutions.

All residents of the district recently received a mailer that outlined the options the school board is considering and a variety of ways the public can provide feedback to the board before the final decision is made.

Those feedback options include an online questionnaire entitled Secondary Space for Learning that will be available on the district’s website, www.hudson.k12.wi.us. The public an also comment via email at connection@hudson.k12.wi.us.

The district is also planning informational presentations to elementary parent groups and other community organizations to reach as many people as possible.

The options currently under consideration are:

--construction of a new 3-year high school for grades 10-12 and the conversion of the middle school to grades 6-7 and the current high school to grades 8-9. Preliminary cost estimate-$62,635,250.

--construction of a new 3-year high school for grades 10-12 and conversion of both the middle and high school to grades 6-9. This option also calls for the sale of the Adminstrative Service Center . Preliminary cost estimate - $65,616,250.

--construction of a new grade 6-9 school with additions to the current high school and middle school. Preliminary cost estimate - $66,420,528.
