Raider girls loom large at Stout
At the large-scale Northern Badger Invitational held at UW-Stout last Saturday, some Raider girls performed in a large way, meaning their squad was among the leaders in points scored.
In only the second meet of the new season, both indoors and both producing numerous state honor roll finishes, junior Rachael Saathoff was victorious in the 55-meter dash. In the hurdles of that length, Sydney Malanaphy won her first-ever race.
Senior Hilary Feyereisen is in her third varsity sport of the school year and captured the pole vault, setting a meet record at 10-feet, 7-inches. That breaks the mark established by former Raider Alex Johnson last year.
Senior Katie Cumming placed first in the 800 meters and second in the mile run. Junior Alicia Bower threw the shot the farthest, and her teammates were third, fifth and ninth. That meant all four girls made the finals.
Senior Haley Fletcher was runner-up in the long jump, third in the triple jump and fourth in the high jump.
