The Hudson girls' hockey team recorded a win and a tie for the second consecutive week to extend their 2009-2010 record to 12-2-4.

Last Thursday the Raiders hosted Mahtomedi, Minn., at Gornick Arena hoping to avenge an overtime loss to the Zephyrs in the Schwan Cup in late December. This game went into overtime as well, but ended in a 1-1 tie. All of the scoring took place in the first period of the game. Mahtomedi's Alorah Burn scored four minutes into the period. Bonnie Meyer evened the score for Hudson on an unassisted goal near the end of the first frame.

The defense and goalies battled through scoreless second, third and overtime periods. Hudson's Alise Riedel stopped 40 shots in net, while the Zephyrs' Alex Pfiffner turned back 24 Hudson shots.

The Raiders took the long drive north to the Twin Ports to face Superior on Saturday and came home with a 4-0 victory.

Emily Stankevitz opened the scoring for Hudson halfway through the first period on an assist by Hailie Bennewitz.

The Raiders scored two quick second period goals about two minutes apart to head into the final stanza ahead 3-0. Abby Singerhouse and Bonnie Meyer notched the tallies and assisted on the other skater's goal. Amy Hutchison also assisted on Meyer's goal.

In the final period, Lexi Byler scored her first varsity goal on a helper from Rachael Knoke.

Hudson outshot Superior 41-13 with Danni Krinke registering the shutout in net for Hudson.

The Raiders will take a 5-1-1 Big Rivers Conference record into a battle with the No. 1 ranked St. Croix Valley Fusion Thursday at 7 p.m. at Gornick Arena. Saturday they host Marshfield in a nonconference game. That game time has been changed from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
