Raider girls swim team remains perfect in Big Rivers

The Raider girls’ swim and dive team continued its domination of Big Rivers Conference opponents by posting a 111-70 victory over River Falls in a dual meet last Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the middle school pool.

Hudson jumped out early with both its ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams taking the top two spots in the first event of the night -- the 200 medley relay. Erika Guenther, Natalie Wood, Devin Cicha and Emmie Reynolds combined for a first place time of 2 minutes, 1.47 seconds, while Ellie Kiecker, Abby Duerst, Nicole Berdusco and Hannah Manley were second in 2:07.63.

Guenther kept things rolling in the 200 yard freestyle with a winning time of 2:02.58, before Cicha won the 200 individual medley in 2:15.11. Kayla Parker was second in 2:32.58.

Wood led a one-two-three Raider sweep in the 50 freestyle, winning with a time of 26.49 seconds. Reynolds was second in 26.93 and Manley took third in 27.69.

The Raiders took the top two spots in diving with Claire Van Valkenburg posting a winning score of 174.7 and Maddie Rohde finishing second with 153.85.

Guenther picked up her second win of the night in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:01.3, and Cicha earned her second victory with a time of 53.4 in the 100 freestyle, before Duerst won the 500 freestyle in 5:43.76. Marissa Smith was second in the 500 free in 5:59.61.

Wood, Reynolds, Guenther and Cicha teamed up to win the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:43.55 before Berdusco and Kiecker finished one-two in the 100 backstroke with times of 1:11.22 and 1:11.24, respectively.

Parker had the fastest time in the 100 breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:20.51, while Duerst, Manley, Kiecker and Berdusco turned in a top time of 4:00.35 in the 400 freestyle relay.

The Raiders wrapped up the regular season this past Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Eau Claire North and will compete in the BRC Championship Meet Saturday, Nov. 2, in Menomonie.
