Raider golfers only get better in BRC
The Raider golf team traveled to Eau Claire North for a seven-team, Big Rivers Conference match and got great 38s from Zach McFarland, Sam Stevens and Jake Miller.
Also, senior Jimmy Hutchings finished in the No. 1 spot with a 1-over-par 37 to lead Hudson to a season-best 151. "With this exceptional performance the team took first in the match and moved into second in the conference, only two points behind Eau Claire Memorial, which finished fourth," said Coach Bill Schaub. Hutchings maintains his top-5 position in individual conference points.
The team was on a roll as it traveled to Rice Lake on Thursday, Schaub said. On a beautiful, sunny day the Raiders shot a 305 team score, the best 18-hole tally of the year. Hutchings led the way with an even-par 71 and tied for meet medalist. Korey Kenall came back with a season-best 74. Miller and McFarland had 80's to round out the scoring. Unfortunately, New Richmond also shot their best rounds of the year, and their 304 beat Hudson by one stroke and allowed them to win the 20-team tournament.
The squad is excited to head into the next week, with three conference matches in five days, concluded by the 18-hole conference final at the Hudson Golf Club on Friday. Hudson expects to make a run at the top spot in the conference.
The junior varsity has also had a good week, traveling to Amery, where they won a 20-team invitational. "The team scored a 310 to win the tournament and shoot the best jayvee score in the 10 years I have coached," Schaub said. Hunter Satterfield led with a career-best 73, followed by Nate Roeder's 77. Jordan Vitek and Richie O'Connor followed with 80's. The next day the Raiders beat River Falls with a 180. They were led by Connor Satterfield's 44.
