Raider swimmers finish second at Big Rivers Conference Meet

Erika Guenther and Devin Cicha won two individual titles each, Natalie Wood claimed a share of the 100 yard breaststroke crown, and two Hudson relay teams took home conference titles as the Raider girls’ swimming and diving team finished second at the Big Rivers Conference Championships last Saturday in Menomonie.


Eau Claire Memorial won the team title with 555.5 points and Hudson was second with 490 while River Falls finished third with 335.

Guenther won the conference title in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2 minutes, 13.48 seconds and took first in the 100 backstroke in 58.78 seconds while Cicha championships came in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.65 seconds and the 100 butterfly in 1:01.00.

Wood tied Eau Claire North’s Lauren Glassbrenner for the conference title in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:12.2.

Guenther, Wood, Cicha and Emmie Reynolds teamed up to capture the BRC crown in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:53.67, while Abby Duerst, Reynolds, Guenther and Cicha won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:43.48.

Hudson took three of the top five spots in the 500 freestyle with Reynolds placing second with a time of 5:34.87, Duerst fourth in 5:44.22 and Marissa Smith fifth in 5:49.66 while Wood added a second place time of 56.14 seconds in the 100 freestyle.

In the 200 freestyle relay, Nicole Berdusco, Ellie Kiecker, Duerst and Wood finished third in 1:46.6, while Reynolds placed fourth in the 200 freestyle in 2:04.67. Maddie Nelson was the Raiders’ top diver with a third place score of 347.5.

Hudson will host the WIAA Sectionals this weekend with diving competition Friday night at 5 p.m. and swimming Saturday at 1 p.m. at the middle school pool.
