Raiders sweep BRC track titles
Hardisha White and Mike Ludgatis each won two events and the Raider boys and girls track and field teams combined for 12 individual titles on their way to sweeping the Big Rivers Conference Track and Field Championships Tuesday evening at Newton Field.
It's the fifth straight BRC championship for the Hudson girls' and the third overall, and first since 2003, for the Raider boys.
Both teams won in decisive fashion with the girls piling up 172 points and the boys 194.5. River Falls took second in the girls' competition with 128 while Eau Claire Memorial was second on the boys' side with 110.
White won the long jump with a leap of 16-feet, 10.5-inches and the triple jump with a distance of 35-6.
Other Raider girls' champions included Alicia Bower in the discus with a toss of 116-11, Angela Tipp in the 200 meter dash in 26.13 seconds, and the 4 X 100 meter relay team of Rachael Saathoff, Erika Tipp, Angela Tipp and Danni Krinke in 51.05 seconds.
Ludgatis won conference championships in both the discus, with a toss of 145-08, and the shot put, with a throw of 48-10.
The boys' 4 X 800 meter relay team of Dan Schloesser, Jacob Ball, Nicholas Schumacher and Luke Wusterbarth took home the title with a time of 8 minutes, 19.74 seconds while Schumacher also won a championship in the 800 meter run in 2:03.79. Schloesser was runner-up in the 800 with a time of 2:06.77.
Nathan Smits won the 110 meter hurdles in 16.16 seconds and Tyler Smith won the 100 meter dash in 11.17 seconds while Mitch Patrick earned a championship in the pole vault by clearing 13-feet, 3-inches.
Next up for the Raiders is the WIAA Division 1 regional meet on Tuesday, May 26, in River Falls.
