Ralph C. Sette, 87

Ralph C. Sette, 87, of New Richmond, well-known retired dairy farmer and Stanton Town Board member, died Saturday, April 26, at the Meadows Nursing Home in New Richmond.

Ralph was born on Oct. 4, 1920, in Stanton Township, the son of Samuel "Ben" and Ella (Schumucher) Sette. He attended Prairie View Country School and graduated from New Richmond High School in 1938.

On Sept. 14, 1952, he was united in marriage to Doris Ostendorf at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stillwater.

Ralph spent most of his life dairy farming and would deliver fuel oil to farms and residences in the winter. He loved farming and working outdoors. He enjoyed taking care of his 1,000 gladiolas! He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Somerset, where he served on the church council. Moreover, he was a proud member of the Stanton Town Board and the Hillside Cemetery Board over the years. He also enjoyed traveling and finding a good fishing hole.

Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Doris; nieces and nephews, Barbara (Robert) Dempsey of Milwaukee, Donna Seim of St. Joseph Township, Richard (Rose) Ostendorf of St. Joseph Township, Robert (Cindy) Ostendorf of North Hudson, Elaine (John) Herink of St. Joseph Township, Jerry Ostendorf of St. Joseph Township, Wayne Ostendorf, John Ostendorf, and Erich Ostendorf, all of Washington State.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel "Ben" and Ella (Schumucher) Sette; brother, Merton Sette; infant brother; niece, Clair Harmon; nephew, Gary Sette; sisters, Erna Sette and Anita TeGrootenhuis.

A Funeral Celebration of Life for Ralph Sette was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, at Christ Lutheran Church in Somerset with Pastor Carol Peterson officiating. Service readers were Donna Seim and Jerry Ostendorf.

Visitation was Tuesday from 5 until 7 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church.

Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery in Somerset with active casketbearers being Chuck Kruschke, Lowell Volkert, Arnell Kunze, Dr. Eric Bowl, Steve Bethke and Brent Volkert while honorary bearers will be Bill Neuman, Erv Schauer, Bob Neuenfeldt, Harold Ammerman, Gerald Campeau, Dr. George Goodlad, Ed Sontag and Tom Wenstad.

Memorials are preferred donor's choice.
