Santa and his reindeer will make their annual visit to Hudson from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec.1 in Lakefront Park. The event is presented by Family Fresh Market and Rock and Tait Exteriors, LLC and other Hudson area businesses.

Children can bring their letters to share with Santa, who will be

sitting in his sleigh at the band shell amid brightly colored packages and a giant Christmas card.

In addition to Santa, children can learn about nature programs, history and take home free ornaments and treats. A children's activity tent offers make-and-take crafts, including magic reindeer food, wood cookie ornaments and evergreen decorations.

Along with the reindeer and a couple of elves, live toy soldiers will be making their debut at this year's event. Families are encouraged to bring their cameras for a unique photo opportunity with real life Christmas toys.

The event will also feature a bake sale featuring holiday treats. Those wanting a snack can also find kettle corn and hot chocolate. Free horse drawn wagon rides give visitors a trip along the sparkling St. Croix River and a chance to enjoy Hudson's festive holiday streetscape. Rides will start at Lakefront Park and travel throughout the downtown.

Miss Hudson Royalty will assist as Santa's helpers, plus Lake Elmo Inn ice carver Tom Schiller will create a reindeer image in ice.

The Phipps Center for the Arts will host a hands-on art activity for all ages from 1-3 pm, plus the Hudson Area Public Library invites children for special activities.

After some fun in the park, people are encouraged to visit Hudson retailers and restaurants for some shopping and good food.
