Remodeling begins, businesses prepare for move
Seasons on St. Croix Gallery is preparing for a move later this summer to a new location at 401 Second St. in downtown Hudson. Demolition and reconstruction is currently under way at the new location.
Among the rubble, an informal celebration took place recently to mark the beginning of the building's transformation for the new location. The building at the corner of Second and Commercial streets has been purchased from the Bauernfeind family. For several decades John and Bertelle Bauernfeind owned and operated a dry cleaning business from that location.
Bob and Ruth Misenko, owners of Seasons on St. Croix, are spearheading the remodeling project. They and a group of investors, the 401 Design Group, plan to completely refurbish the building by late summer.
The group hired local architect John Kalmon to provide the leadership and vision for the building design. Seasons on St. Croix Gallery, Christensen Clay Studio and Maras Glass Studio will make their new home at this location, as well as Redmon Law Chartered and Top Line Growth.
The 401 Design Group will continue working with the city of Hudson to ensure that the refurbished building adds to the overall vision that will keep the downtown a viable destination.
