Rep. Ron Kind, D-Wisconsin, will speak about funding available for small business from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act on Monday, July 6, at 2:30 p.m. at the Government Center.
Congress passed the act earlier this year to provide the country with economic stimulus through investments in infrastructure, education and tax relief. The ARRA also provides funding and assistance through the Small Business Administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development program.
Eric Ness, state director of the SBA, and Jeff Hudson, from the USDA Rural Development, will share the podium with Kind, who will review business-related provisions in the ARRA.
Small business is defined by the SBA as typically a for-profit enterprise with 1,000 or less employees depending on industry or having a certain annual revenue by industry. Definitions can be found at www.sba.gov/contractingopportunities/officials/size/GC-SMALL-BUS-SIZE-ST....
