Azul Tequila Bar and Grill has received another extension to its deadline for putting to use a Class B liquor license.

The Hudson City Council on Aug. 20 gave the planned Mexican restaurant until the end of November to open in a strip mall at the northwest corner of Carmichael and Hanley roads.

Representatives of the restaurant said they had experienced unforeseen delays in completing the interior construction for the restaurant, but the work is now progressing. They said they expect the restaurant to open in November.

The City Council first granted the liquor license to the establishment last February. In April, the restaurant was given a 120-extension for putting the license to use. It was to have opened by the end of August.

Also on Aug. 20, the City Council authorized the police department to purchase a new Ford Explorer for use as a squad car, and to auction off three older police vehicles.

The council deferred to the Police and Fire Commission a decision on whether the Hudson Fire Department should continue to use an older Chevrolet Suburban.

Alderperson Mary Yacoub had suggested that the fire department replace the Suburban with one of the older police vehicles. She said the police vehicle would be more reliable and use less fuel.

Fire Chief Jim Frye said the Suburban fits the fire department's needs better than one of the police vehicles would.
