The two wins upped Hudson's league record to 6-2 and moved them into a tie with the River Falls Fighting Fish, one game behind the 7-1 Prescott Pirates. They visited the Osceola Braves (5-3) Wednesday, July 10, before a pair of home games this weekend against the Bay City Bombers (5-6) Saturday, July 13, and first-place Prescott Sunday, July 14. Both games are set for 1 p.m. at Grandview Park.

Last Saturday at home against St. Croix Falls, Paul Johnson struck out ten Bandits while pitching six innings of two-hit ball and Brent Blegen doubled twice and drove in three runs in a 4-2 River Rats victory.

Ben Christensen singled, scored, drove in a run and stole a base while Jason Hollar reached base four times on a single, two walks and one hit-by-pitch, stole one base and scored twice.

Tyler Dierke worked the final three innings on the mound to earn the save, allowing one earned run on six hits with three strikeouts and one walk.

Sunday against the Spring Valley Hawks, Derek Krumrei had two hits, including a double, and four RBI and pitched three scoreless innings of relief to earn the save in a 6-1 Hudson win.

Andy Edholm earned the victory on the mound, allowing one unearned run on six hits with two strikeouts and two walks over the first six innings. He also contributed two hits and scored a run while Chris Dent added a two-run single and a stolen base and Mitch Lewis was 1-for-2 with three walks, three runs scored and one stolen base.

South wins All-Star Game

Hudson's three representatives in the 2013 SCVBL All-Star Game last Friday, July 5, in New Richmond, all made significant contributions to help the South squad to an 11-7 win over the North.

Edholm had three hits in the game and worked one inning on the mound, allowing one run, while Austin Booher had an RBI double and came around to score. Johnson showed off his defensive prowess in right field by making a spectacular sliding catch and nearly throwing out the runner trying to tag up from third base.

Hudson player-manager Hollar served as third base coach for the South.
