Roosters spared the axe in town of Hudson

The Hudson Town Board decided not to act on a proposal to ban rooster from nonfarm residential property after a Sept. 6 public hearing on the issue.

Town Treasurer Jacquie Smith said in a phone call Monday that several town residents spoke out against the ban, and the town board decided following the hearing not act on the proposal.

The proposal also would have prohibited any farm animals on lots less than two acres in size. The first acre would have been excluded from per-acre calculations of the number of farm animals allowed on a property.

The board unanimously approved a site plan for the Hudson Boosters' planned baseball complex on Hwy. 12.

The board is currently engaged in litigation over whether the fields may be lighted.
