Salvation Army still needs donations
Despite the recent success of Helen McCombie's 30 hour marathon to raise $30,000 for the Salvation Army in St. Croix County, the campaign is coming up short of its $100,000 goal.
Coordination Duana Bremer said they have received about $74,000 in donations this season as compared to the $94,000 that had been donated by Christmas last year. She is hoping that that difference can be made up in the days to come.
Bremer said that 85 percent of the money collected in St. Croix County stays here to support projects like Grace Place, a homeless shelter for families in Somerset, and to provide food and emergency assistance for those in need throughout the county. If they cannot raise at least as much as last year, those efforts will be in jeopardy.
Expect to see bell-ringers at the Red Kettles through the end of the year and anyone wishing to help can contact the Salvation Army at (715)247-2944. Donations can be sent to Salvation Army, c/o Grace Place, 203 Church Hill Road, Somerset, WI 54025.
