Sandra Svenson, 73
Sandra Jean "Sandy" Svenson, age 73, of Roberts, formerly of Colfax, died Saturday, June 29, at the Hudson Hospital.
Sandy was born on March 11, 1940, in Eau Claire, Wis., the daughter of Gerhart and Olga (Hovre) Hammer. She was raised in Colfax where she attended school and graduated from high school. Following this, she furthered her education in bookkeeping at the vocational college in Eau Claire. On Aug. 11, 1977, she was united in marriage to Ronald J. Svenson at Bethel Lutheran Church by Rev. Donald Docken. Many will remember Sandy working for LaBon's Truck stop for several years. She began as a cashier before serving in their bookkeeping department.
Sandy loved her family. She thoroughly enjoyed cooking and baking her Norwegian goodies. She was a supportive and caring mom who loved cheering her son, Al, on at his soccer games. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, or quilting keepsakes for her family. Furthermore, she enjoyed playing the organ, tending to her flowerbeds, golfing left handed (even though she was right handed), and spending time with her beloved dogs.
Sandy will forever remain in the hearts of her husband of 36 years, Ronald; son, Al Barstad (Tammy Halverson) of Roberts; brother Don (Ann) Hammer; as well as her extended relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings John, Earl, Leroy "Humpy," and Irene.
Funeral service for Sandy is 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson. Burial will be in the Colfax Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at O'Connell's Wednesday afternoon. Memorials are preferred.
