The St. Croix Underage Drinking Coalition is starting its seventh year working with law enforcement in St. Croix County. All law enforcement agencies in the county participate in the coalition, which is the largest of its kind in the state tackling underage drinking.
They were recently awarded a 2009 CARD Grant in the amount of $92,370 to provide for extra patrol specific to underage alcohol compliance and to purchase equipment to be used for those patrol activities.
The SCUDC has provided training to other coalitions and law enforcement agencies on the process, building partnerships and performing successful compliance checks.
The SCUDC's community partner to reduce youth access to alcohol is Youth Action Hudson. The group formerly known as Hudson Community Action has been a participant in the coalition from the beginning, providing volunteer recruitment, education and advocacy.
Coalition partners are Youth Action Hudson, the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office and the police departments in Baldwin, Glenwood City, Hammond, Hudson, New Richmond, North Hudson, Roberts, River Falls, Somerset, Star Prairie and Woodville.
