When Everett Vaught turned 80 last December, he decided he wanted to mark the milestone in a special way.

One of his children, Cindy McGuire, said her dad wanted to go skydiving so that is what his children gave him for his birthday gift. Turns out that McGuire along with three of his four grandchildren decided to join him in his adventure. They all took the leap on June 13.

"My dad was so happy because, besides me and him jumping, three of his four grandchildren were also going to jump! Three generations of us -- and none of us has ever skydived before!"

The first-time skydivers had a big audience on the ground at Skydive Twin Cities in Baldwin including family and friends.

Vaught and his wife Mae have lived in Hudson for 23 years.

Along with McGuire of Mahtomedi, Minn., the family includes sister Debbie McMahon of St. Paul and grandchildren Justin McGuire, Kristin McGuire, and Melissa and Michael McMahon.
