Spooner man highlighted in I-35 bridge collapse sentenced for injuring child

A northwest Wisconsin man who portrayed himself as a hero after last year's Minneapolis bridge collapse was sentenced to prison Thursday.

Michael Stoner, 27, Spooner, made national news after he and his fiancée survived the collapse as they rushed to a Minneapolis hospital to see their 2-year-old daughter.

Their vehicle went down in the wreckage on Interstate-35 and they swam to safety and saw the girl in the hospital.
