State trail network named for noted conservationist
Wisconsin's network of 42 state trails has been renamed in honor of the legendary conservationist Aldo Leopold.
Gov. Jim Doyle signed a bill which puts the new name on all 1,728 miles of the trail system.
Leopold's daughter, Nina Leopold Bradley, was on hand Tuesday at a dedication ceremony in Monona.
Doyle said the trail system preserves Wisconsin's natural areas while making them available for folks to enjoy.
