Summer theater camps offered at The Phipps

Page to Stage for students entering third and fourth grades, Acting Ensemble for students entering fifth and sixth grades, and Musical Theater Camp for students entering seventh through tenth grades will be offered by area professionals this summer at The Phipps Center for the Arts. Students should bring a snack each day.

Page to Stage for students entering grades 3 and 4 will be offered Monday through Friday, June 11-15 and again July 16-20, from 9 a.m. to noon each day, for a fee of $135. Enrollment is limited to 20 students. Students will work with instructors to explore acting, creating characters, improvisation and performance techniques. They will use the skills developed, along with their creativity, to bring a story to life. This work will be shared with family and friends on the final day of class.

Acting Ensemble for students entering grades 5 and 6 will be offered Monday through Friday, June 11-15 and again July 16-20, from 1 to 4 p.m. each day, for a fee of $135. Enrollment is limited to 20 students. Students will work with instructors on acting techniques, improvisation, character development, and performance techniques. The acting ensemble will create a performance piece inspired by student ideas and their classroom improvisations. This original piece will be performed for family and friends on the final day of class.

Musical Theater Camp will be offered for students entering grades 7-10 from Monday through Friday, July 9-13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. This camp is an intensive week of training in all types of musical theater. Designed for all levels of experience, this camp offers workshops in acting, dance and movement, voice, and auditioning. An original work will be performed for family and friends on the final day of class. The fee is $265. A $65 deposit is required to register, and the tuition balance is due June 8. Enrollment is limited. Students should bring a bag lunch each day.
