Superintendent gets $13,000 raise
The Hudson Board of Education voted to pay Superintendent Mary Bowen-Eggebraaten $159,480 for the 2012-13 school year at the school board meeting Tuesday night.
The vote was 6-1. Board member Sandy Gehrke voted against the increase. Deliberations on the raise took place in closed session. They reconvened to open session to cast their votes.
The raise represents about 9 percent increase over the superintendent's 2011-12 salary of $146,409.
At a recent meeting, the board heard the results of a salary comparison study of school superintendents in the area conducted by an independent consulting firm. According to that study, the median salary for a superintendent in this market area is $173,246, about 18 percent more than Bowen-Eggebraaten's 2011-12 compensation.
Salary comparison studies for teachers and administrators were also conducted and resulted in raises for teachers and administrators that were below the median level that were approved at the January board meeting.
