Talent abounds at second 'Hudson Youth Have Talent' show

A crowd of around 350 people cheered on this year's participants in Youth Action Hudson's "On the Road to Stardom...Hudson Youth Have Talent" show Saturday night at Hudson High School auditorium.

There were 17 acts on the program including singing, dance, poetry, instrumental performances and stand-up comedy. Winners were selected in several categories by judges Andy Bernstrom, Clara Ashwood, Dan Baumgartner, Donna Bennett and Nancy Burman. The audience also selected its favorite of the evening. First-place winners received $100 with $50 going to the second-place winners.

In the category of solo performance, first place went to singer Max Malanaphy. Second place went to singer/songwriter Jennifer Rivera.

In the category of duo or group performance, first place went to hip hop dancers Phantom of the Hip Hop featuring Kyle Vang, Chingla Xiong, James Xiong and Yia Xiong. Second place went to singers Ben Tresselt and Tony Caruso.

In the category of variety performance, first place went to drummer Spencer Knefelkamp for his original composition with second place going to comedian Tucker Millett.

The audience choice award went to Ben Tresselt and Tony Caruso for their performance of "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz.
