The Spirit of the St. Croix Days will be host to the 2009 Taste of Hudson - A Food, Wine & Beer Experience on Saturday, Sept. 26. The event features specialties from 10 restaurants along with Wisconsin beers and wines - all you can eat and drink and dancing until 10:30 p.m. to Mister Twister. Tickets are $50.

"This is not your ordinary food and wine tasting," said Chamber Director of Communications and Programs Pat Sherley. "Restaurants give servings unique tastings - not just a sample on a cracker."

"This event sold out last year and is sure to continue to offer a chance for visitors and residents to taste from the best restaurants in the valley."

Restaurants featured and their tastings are:

  • Afton House Inn - Vanilla Cream Diplomat - vanilla custard with strawberry and chocolate.
  • Barker's Bar & Grill - Louisiana chicken satay with Amish blue cheese and celery salad.
  • Carmichael's Bar & Grill - Carmichael's Fall Classic.
  • Dick's Bar & Grill - creamy prime rib and mushroom soup.
  • Mama Maria's Italian Ristorante - seafood bisque with shrimp, clams and scallops and funghetti cannelloni.
  • Paddy Ryan's Irish Pub - Dublin coddle and pasty.
  • Pier 500 - slow-roasted ground chicken meatballs with scratch marinara.
  • San Pedro Café - red chile pork tamales.
  • The Nova - pork tenderloin with spicy cinnamon brown sugar rub and apple slices.
  • Winzer Stube - chicken with gypsy sauce and spaetzle.

"Hudson has also evolved into one of the most unique culinary restaurant towns in the St. Croix Valley," Sherley said. "The Hudson Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau boasts of over 14 independently owned member restaurants often recognized in the Twin Cities for creative culinary offerings, well known chefs and distinctive atmospheres.

The fall colors bring the Spirit of the St. Croix Days event to Hudson Sept. 26 and 27, celebrating the colors of the season, juried art show, music along the St. Croix River, food, and entertainment.
