Teen sells grand champion steer at state fair for third year in a row
WEST ALLIS - For the third year in a row, Brock May of Mineral Point sold the grand champion steer at the Governor's Blue Ribbon Livestock Auction at the State Fair.
But as you might expect, the sale prices were much lower last night than in the past.
The 15-year-old May sold his steer for $15,000, $10,000 less than his prize animal from last year, and $20,000 less than the steer he sold two years ago.
Kenosha Beef International bought May's $1,290 animal, and the meat will be donated to Kenosha's Salvation Army.
All told, 27 steers, barrows, and lambs went for almost $111,000 at the 41st annual sale.
It was held on the seventh day of the State Fair, which runs through Sunday in West Allis.
