The Phipps Center for the Arts is offering summer Drama Camp for students entering grades 3-4, Acting Ensemble for grades 5-6 and Musical Theater Camp for grades 7-10. Each group will perform for family and friends the last day of class. Enrollment is limited.
Drama Camp for students entering grades 3 and 4 is scheduled Monday-Friday, June 16-20 and again July 21-25, from 9 a.m.-noon each day, for a fee of $135. Enrollment is limited to 20 students. Students will explore acting, creating characters, improvisation and performance techniques.Acting Ensemble for students entering grades 5 and 6 is Monday-Friday, June 16-20 and again July 21-25, 1-4 p.m. each day, for a fee of $135. Students will work on acting techniques, improvisation, character development and performance techniques.
Instructor Diane Landis has been a director, actress and teacher in the Twin Cities for over 20 years, working at various theater companies. Musical Theater Camp is Monday-Friday, July 7-11, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. each day. The camp is an intensive week of training in all aspects of musical theater for students with all levels of experience. The program offers classes in acting, vocal technique, dance and movement, as well as auditioning. The fee is $255, and students should bring a bag lunch.
