Three of the four spots up for election this April 5 in the Town of St. Joseph will see competition. Caucuses were held Thursday, Jan. 6.

The one unopposed position is for Supervisor 4 where incumbent Rick Colbeth was the only person nominated for the post.

As for the other three positions, two people were nominated for each spot; the winners will be determined in April.

The Supervisor 2 race features Jim Traeger, 538 Perch Lake Rd., and Fred Meyer, 1475 24th St., Houlton.

Current Town Chair, Theresa Johnson, will not be seeking reelection. Nominated for the post were incumbent Supervisor 1 Kevin Adkins and former Supervisor Dan Gavin, 555 Perch Lake Rd. The town chair post actually attracted three nominations and a primary was held at the meeting to narrow the field to two.

Nominated were Adkins, Gavin and Traeger. Gavin garnered the most votes with 31, followed by Adkins with 20 and Traeger 10.

The Clerk-Treasurer position will also see two new people running. Marie Schmit, who currently holds the post, will not be running for reelection. Seeking to fill the vacancy will be Mary Stanley, 117 Heritage Trail, Houlton, and Joan Gerhan, 1123 County Road A.
