Town of St. Joseph: Prison stayed for Stanley, probation ordered
A former St. Joe official convicted of felony forgery and misconduct in office was sentenced Friday morning in St. Croix County Circuit Court.
Judge Eric J. Lundell ordered Mary Evelyn Stanley to serve three years in prison and three years extended supervision; then stayed the prison sentenced in lieu of three years’ probation on the forgery charge. She was also sentenced to one year six months in prison and two years extended supervision on the misconduct charge to run concurrently. The prison sentence was stayed and probation ordered.
Conditions of Stanley’s pro probation included restitution of $22,630, including payments to the town of St. Joseph and to St. Croix County for transportation.
She was also ordered to maintain full time employment, go through a psychological evaluation and follow-up with its recommendations, never seek or obtain public office and pay court costs of $268. See more in the Nov. 7 edition of the Hudson Star-Observer.
