Two are candidates for register of deeds
Two Democrats have filed for the St. Croix County register of deeds position now held by Kathleen "Kay" Walsh, who is retiring at the end of the year.
Both Geri Campbell, Roberts, and Beth Pabst, Hammond, have filed as candidates for the job Walsh has held for 14 years.
Because Campbell and Pabst are from the same political party, a primary election will be held Sept. 9.
Campbell is currently first deputy in the register of deeds office.
Pabst is a real-property lister assistant in the county's Planning and Zoning Department. Prior to taking that job, she worked 14 years in the treasurer's office.
Only the incumbents filed for three other county positions up for election this fall. They are County Clerk Cindy Campbell, Treasurer Cheryl Slind and District Attorney Eric Johnson.
July 8 was the filing deadline for the four offices. The terms for all four are now four years.
