Update: Tree limb knocked out power in North Hudson, St. Joseph
About 1,000 Xcel Energy customers in North Hudson and the town of St. Joseph were without electrical service for up to two and a half hours Wednesday night after a tree limb fell on a power line.
Xcel Energy spokesman Brian Elwood said out occurred at about 7:30 p.m., and power was restored to all customers by 10 p.m. Service was restored to about half of the customers midway through the repair operation, he said.
According to Hudson Fire Chief Jim Frye, the branch broke off a tree in the back yard of a residence at 531 Lemon St. N. in North Hudson.
The fire department was called to the scene, along with repair crews from Xcel Energy.
Frye said firefighters stood by while the linemen completed the repairs.
No reason was given for why the limb fell. A cold rain was falling at the time.
