Five victims from a a two-vehicle head-on accident just west of River Falls Tuesday continue to recover from their injuries.

On Thursday, Pierce County Sheriff's Department investigator Wade Strain identified the two juvenile children in the car as Taylor Weick, 8, and Nathan Weick, 6. Strain said both children were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. The two have a Hudson address, but Strain said they go to school in the River Falls district.

Tabitha Toland, 16, was driving a Dodge Stratus west on CTH M when she apparently swerved to miss an animal and struck a pickup truck head-on.

Emergency services responded with five ambulances plus firefighters to the scene near W10791, on CTH M in the town of Clifton.

Early Wednesday, deputies identified Tabitha Toland, 16, of River Falls, as the driver of the Stratus and Donald Olson, 81, and Corene Olson, 77, of River Falls, as driver and passenger in the truck. Both had to be extricated from the wreckage by firefighters.

Both children were transported directly to Regions Hospital while Toland was taken Hudson Hospital with a posssible broken wrist.

Toland has since been treated and released.

At Regions, as of 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Donald Olson was said to be in fair condition. Corene Olson was listed as serious.

The conditions of the children weren't immediately available.

Both vehicles were eventually towed and impounded at Ellsworth until the investigation is complete. The State Patrol is also assisting.

No citations had been issued as of Thursday morning.

An ambulance from Hudson also responded directly to the scene while another from Ellsworth stood-by in the town of River Falls to cover the city in the event of another call. Pierce County sheriff's deputies were assisted by River Falls police and fire department.

Two hurt earlier Tuesday

Earlier Tuesday afternoon, two drivers were transported to River Falls Area Hospital with undetermined injuries following a rear-end collision at the intersection of Hwy. 29 and CTH E.

Deputies said a 1989 Chevrolet truck driven by Leslie A. Beining, 22, a UW-River Falls student from Green Leaf, was stopped, waiting to make a left turn onto CTH E when it was struck from behind by a 1996 Ford Escort driven by Nathan B. Snyder, 26, of Lakeville, Minn.

There were no passengers in either vehicle.

The crash occured at 1:56 p.m. and remains under investigation, according to Pierce County deputy Andrew Thoms.
