Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett will face Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker in the general election race for Wisconsin governor as a result of Tuesday's primary election.

Barrett, with 210,972 votes, easily defeated Tim John, 22,268 votes, in the Democractic gubernatorial primary.

On the Republican side, Walker received 360,053 votes to Mark Neumann's 237,9444, and 16,614 for Scott Paterick.

Republicans picked Rebecca Kleefisch to be their candidate for lieutenant governor. Kleefisch got 256,323 votes (47%) in a five-candidate field.

Former Assembly Minority Leader Tom Nelson of Kaukauna is the Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor. Nelson received 107,029 votes (52%) to outdistance three other Democratic candidates for the office.

Locally, Matt Borup of Hudson defeated Ben Plunkett of River Falls to win the Democratic Party's nomination for the 30th District Assembly seat. Borup received 1,171 votes to Plunkett's 522.

Borup will face Republican Dean Knudson, mayor of Hudson, in the Nov. 2 election.
