UW-Whitewater takes third at Div. 3 World Series
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater took third place in the NCAA Division baseball World Series.
The Warhawks were eliminated by Johns Hopkins Monday 12-11, in the final game before today's (Tuesday) championship round at Fox Cities Stadium near Appleton.
The Blue Jays loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the ninth when Jonas Fester delivered the walk-off single.
The two teams combined for 38 hits while using seven pitchers.
UW-Whitewater ends its season at 42-10. The Warhawks advanced earlier Monday with a 13-11 win over Adrian College of Michigan.
Jeff Donovan and Kevin Zalnis both homered and drove in seven of Whitewater's 13 runs in that contest.
Today at 11 a.m. Johns Hopkins will play unbeaten Trinity of Connecticut.
Trinity is trying to become the first Division 3 ever to win a national title while going undefeated for the year. They're 44-0.
Johns Hopkins is 41-7 and if they pull the upset, the two teams will play again for the double-elimination title.
