The magic of the live theater jumped off the stage at Houlton Elementary School on March 9. Prairie Fire Theatre brought its week long artist-in-residence program to the school.

Students are put through the entire scope of producing a live event. From try-outs to rehearsal, to choreography, to lights and sound effects, the students learn it all.

A team of adult directors from Prairie Fire Theatre bring the costumes and props. The students, in this case 77 of them, and dozens of parents volunteer throughout the week to produce the play. This year it was an adaptation of the classic "Sleeping Beauty."

This is the fourth year Houlton Elementary School has had the opportunity to host Prairie Fire Theatre. It was paid for by the Houlton Parent Association. For more information, go to www.prairiefirechildrenstheatre.com.
