Violet "Toby" Ostby, died Sunday, June 22, at the American Heritage Care Center in Hammond.
Toby was born July 9, 1911, in Hammond.
On July 9, 1929, she married James Kenneth Ostby. She and her husband lived in Hudson and operated their family business: Ostby's Super Service and Oldsmobile dealership at Fourth and Vine Street in Hudson.
After her husband retired, she was employed at the St. Croix YMCA Camp.
She enjoyed nature, gardening and baking and was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Surviving are her daughter, Kay Jean Hinzman (Lee Swanson) of Hudson; grandchildren: Beth (John) Hannan of Minneapolis and their children, Jackson, Madeleine and Thomas; Jason (Wendy) Ostby of Roswell, Ga., and their children, Brittney and Ivy; Ben (Erin) Hinzman of San Mateo, Calif., and their children, Sam and Simone; Julie (Joel) Marvin of Hudson and their children, Gabriel, Braden, Jagger and Emmi; Joshua (Sarah) Ostby of St. Paul and their children, Brooklyn, Evan and Morgan; Jesseka (Troy) Wink of Frederic, and their children, Tysen and Jamesen.
She is further survived by her sister, Alice Stoez and her daughters, Sharon, Sheila and Sandra and their families; daughter-in-law, Karen Blok and her children, Jennifer Ead and Joe Sahnow; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Kenneth in 1984; an infant son; a daughter, Fay in 1934; son, Stephen Louis in 1998; and son-in-law, Theodore Hinzman in 1989.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 2 at St. Croix Valley United Methodist Church in Lakeland, Minn., with Rev. Dr. Daren Flinck officiating. Visitation will be from 6-7 PM.
Memorials are preferred to Camp St. Croix and Y Partners program or to the church. Arrangements have been entrusted the O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson.
