Anyone interested in volunteering for a few hours once or twice to help those who are down on their luck may be interested in attending one of two information sessions being held by The SOURCE and Operation HELP. Both organizations partner to help people identify the resources that can help tide them get them back on their feet. The sessions are scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 17, from 1-1:30 p.m. and again from 6-6:30 p.m. The sessions are open to the public. They are being held on the second floor at 901 Fourth St. Following the information session, those interested can sign up for training.
Volunteers provide in-person assistance at The SOURCE or answer telephones for Operation HELP. Other opportunities to assist are also available. The SOURCE provides a place right here in Hudson where local residents can find talk with knowledgeable volunteers to help them identify the best available social services to meet their needs. Operation HELP's primary mission is to help individuals and families recover from temporary crisis by providing financial assistance with rent and utilities. Operation HELP also conducts various programs through the year, such as the recent Christmas campaign for kids that helped ensure a merry Christmas for 170 families in the Hudson school district. Further information is available at http://www.operationhelpstcroix.org/ for Operation HELP and at http://www.thesourcehudson.com/ for The SOURCE.
