Wausau Homes cutting workforce
Wausau Homes will cut about one-third of its workforce at the end of January and it blames the nation's financial meltdown.
Wausau, which makes pre-fabricated homes, says it will permanently let 81 employees go by Jan. 30. That includes production workers and other personnel.
Company President Tom Schuette calls it a painful move. He says the affected workers have "contributed significantly to our success, and we will miss them tremendously."
Schuette also said those people will get severance packages which go beyond the state's 60-day legal requirement.
About 160 workers will remain.
