Wayne Hilden, 75, of North Hudson died Sunday, March 9, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.
He was born May 31, 1932, in the town of Trimbelle to Vernon and Pearl (Dopkins) Hilden. As a young child, Wayne attended a small country school in Trimbelle and later attended high school in River Falls.
After graduating from River Falls, Wayne married his best friend, Marlene Larson. The two were joined in marriage at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. The union would be blessed with four children.
Wayne worked as a mechanic for Montgomery Ward until his retirement in 1994. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and even a little yard work.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Marlene; four children, Scott (special friend, Melissa Corcoran) Hilden of North Hudson, Linda (Ron) Smith of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kimberley (Jay) Davlin of Austin, Texas, and Kevin (Leanne) Hilden of Hammond; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Sheldon (Mary) Hilden of Bay City; and two sisters, Corinne (Bob) Clausen of River Falls and Rosalie (Ernie) Strand of Bay City.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service was at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1205 Sixth St., Hudson, with Pastor Tim Booth officiating.
Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Interment was in Willow River Cemetery with full military honors. Services were entrusted to the O'Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson. Online condolences may be expressed at www.oconnellfuneralhomes.com.
