Weather outlook prompts building safety warning
HUDSON - St. Croix County Emergency Management officials are warning building owners about the dangerous weight of snow on rooftops. After receiving almost two feet of snow in the last few weeks and a forecast of freezing rain and more snow, there's concern that some roofs could collapse.
According to the Emergency Management, rooftops at the highest risk are those with wide unsupported spans, flat roofs or those with minimal slopes.
Extreme care is urged in the removal of snow from rooftops.
If owners are unsure or unable to do the work themselves, consider hiring a professional.
Emergency Management officials reminds everyone to be safe and take proper precautions to avoid injury.
