Whitewater, Stevens Point to meet for WIAC title
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and UW-Stevens Point have advanced to the title game of the WIAC men's basketball tournament.
Both won their semi-final contests Wednesday night.
Top-seeded UW-Whitewater needed overtime to eliminate No. 5 UW-Superior 77-73. Myles McKay scored 22 points for the fourth-ranked Warhawks, which played without starters Matt Goodwin, Rob Perry, and Josh King.
UW-Stevens Point routed seventh-seeded UW-Eau Claire 88-65 at home. Steve Hicklin scored 19 points, as the Pointers shot 53-percent from the floor.
UW-Whitewater will host the tournament finale on Saturday.
Tonight (Thursday), the semi-finals will be played in the WIAC women's tournament.
UW-Whitewater hosts UW-Stevens Point and UW-Eau Claire entertains UW-Stout.
