Willow River and county parks offer snowshoeing lessons
Have you ever wanted to try snowshoeing? Willow River State Park and St. Croix County Parks are offering lessons this winter. You and your family will have the opportunity to learn special snowshoeing techniques and participate in fun activities along a guided trail.
Don’t have snowshoes? Healthier Together – St. Croix County’s Transform Wisconsin Active Communities grant has provided the parks with a variety of snowshoes to be used at these lessons. If you would like to use a pair, contact the parks one week in advance to reserve your snowshoes. Class sizes are limited and are dependent on snow cover and weather.
Classes at Willow River State Park are Jan. 4, 1-3 p.m. and Feb. 2, 1-3 p.m. Lessons and snowshoes are free, but vehicle admission into the park is required. For more information or to register, please contact: Willow River State Park at (715) 386-9340 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Snowshoeing is also available at St. Croix County Parks. Lessons are $7 per family and snowshoes are available to rent for $5. Lessons are available as follows:
--Jan. 11, 10 a.m.-noon, Homestead Parklands on Perch Lake.
--Feb. 8, 10 a.m.-noon, Kinnickinnic Forest near Hwy. JJ.
