Hudson High School senior Nadja Mataya, center, received the Alice M. Stolpe Scholarship for the Arts at the closing reception for the Annual Area High School Art Exhibition on Sunday, May 6, at The Phipps Center for the Arts. The $2,000 scholarship is available to any graduating senior who will major in art in the fall of 2012. Mataya will attend UW-Madison. Andersen Corp. makes this annual scholarship in recognition of regional artist Alice M. Stolpe, who supported Andersen's community art program for more than three decades. Pictured with Mataya are Anastasia Shartin, left, visual arts director of The Phipps, and Jean Maher from Andersen's. A panel of judges from The Phipps and Andersen's independently reviewed submissions. Mataya's piece is an acrylic painting of a classmate, "Charleton Skinner," on canvas board. For more information, contact Shartin at (715) 386-2305, ext. 103.
